Films in the University of Arkansas Libraries

There are several ways to find videos at U of A Libraries:

  • Use OneSearch and limit to video resource type feature
  • Use keyword search for the title, director, producer, (be sure to use quotation marks around the words that should be kept together). If necessary, add the resource type limit for video. 
  • Search streaming video portals for online videos:

Finding Films by Genre

Film genres are best located by using a Form/Genre search. The following genre headings may be useful for locating films as well as books about films. Select the genre that most closely matches the genre in which you are interested. The following headings can be found in our catalog.


Feature films, Adventure films, Animated films, Bible films, Biographical films, Children’s films, Comedy films, Detective and mystery films, Documentary films, Educational films, Epic films, Erotic films, Fairy tales, Fantasy fims, Film adaptations, Film noir, Folklore, Gangster films, Historical films, Horror films, Legal drama, Love stories, Medical drama, Musical films, Science fiction films, Short films, Silent films, Spy films, Thrillers, Voyages Imaginary, War films, Western films

International films can be identified by the genre term followed by the country of origin.
