Blackboard Mobile Learn

Blackboard Mobile Logoapp for iPhoneapp for Android

You can access much of your BlackBoard course material from your mobile device.  Blackboard has custom apps for both iOS and Android.

Once you have installed the app on your device, you will need to authenticate as a UofA campus member.

  1. Launch the Blackboard Mobile Learn app on your mobile device.
  2. Search for your institution. (Unable to find your institution?)
  3. Select your institution.
  4. Login using the same credentials you would use to log in to Blackboard from your computer's web browser.

DocScanner

DocScannerapp for iPhoneapp for AndroidDocScanner is a paid app for iOS and Android that allows you to scan documents on the go and safe them as PDFs. You can then email the PDF files, or save them to other apps such as Dropbox or Evernote. There is even a built in OCR (optical character recognition) function for converting the scanned image to text.

While this app works adequately, reviews are mixed. Some users have complained that location services need to be enabled for use, and others have reported various issues.  Read the review at the Chronicle of Higher Education for more info.
