The Arkansas Council on Human Relations was organized in December 1954 and incorporated and staffed in 1955 as a voluntary non-profit, non-political organization. It was associated with the Southern Regional Council. The purpose of the ACHR was to seek improved human relations by working to secure equal opportunity for all people.

8 1/2 linear feet of materials created and collected by Caldwell, whose career with the United States Department of Justice (1941-1968) included positions as Chief of the Civil Rights Section and as assistant to the Assistant Attorney-General for the Civil Rights Division. Materials also relate to Japanese-American Internment and the "Freedom Train" exhibits.
Papers pertaining to Virgil T. Blossom's career as Superintendent of the Little Rock Public Schools, 1953-1958, especially his role in the desegregation crisis in 1957-58

This collection of selected newspapers on microfilm is the result of a American Council of Learned Societies project to microfilm African American newspapers. The project was coordinated by Amistaed Scott Pride, who produced the guide listed below. The papers were originally published from 1865-1923; most were published around the turn of the century. In many cases, the copies have gaps in dates of coverage.
Provides documents produced by and correspondence to and from SNCC offices, including information on the Mississippi Summer Project of 1964, Voter Education Projects, Freedom Schools, field reports from various state offices (including Arkansas) sit-ins and other direct actions, and more.
