There are two ways of accessing this software for U of A faculty, staff and students. 

• Web-based CSD
• CSD Client Software

WebCSD is the Web-based interface to the Cambridge Structural Database, available to current University of Arkansas faculty, staff, and students. WebCSD does not offer as many searching options or analysis tools as the client version.  It is ideal for teaching and recommended for individuals who wish to do a quick search of crystal structures.

To access the advanced WebCSD searching options

1. Use this link to obtain the Customer Number and Activation Code.
2. Register for an account with your U of A email at the following website: https://www.ccdc.cam.ac.uk/account/login/register
3. Once registered, sign-in to your account.
4. Click on My Account.
5. On the Profile page, on the right scroll down to Licenses, click Activate WebCSD.
   1. Enter the Customer Number and Activation code.
      1. You only need to activate WebCSD one time.
   2. If you have already activated WebCSD, you will be redirected to the database.

The CSD client software is installed on computers in the Chemistry and Biochemistry Library and can be downloaded to any on-campus computer.  It is recommended for current U of A affiliates who wish to do more complex searches or perform more in-depth analysis on search results using any of the associated CCDC software applications.

To download the CSD Client software:

1. Use this link to obtain the Customer Number and Activation Code.
2. Download CSD Data and Software: https://www.ccdc.cam.ac.uk/support-and-resources/csdsdownloads/
   1. Enter the Customer Number and Activation Code.
   2. An email will be sent including links to various software packages.
   3. Download the CSD Portfolio executable for your operating system.
3. Install CSD Portfolio for your operating system.
   1. The current version is: CSDInstallerOnline-2024.2.0-xxxx.
   2. If using a University owned computer:
      1. Right-click on the executable.
      2. Click Run as administrator.
      3. Select Request ThreatLocker Elevation.
      4. Wait for confirmation before you begin installation.
   3. Double-click CSDInstallerOnline-2024.2.0-xxxx.
