This guide is brought to you by the Office of Scholarly Communications, where our goal is to help you reach yours.

Identifying Your Goals and Expertise

Goals give you motivation, a guide for making choices, and criteria for evaluating what you have already achieved. As you enter your professional career, you want to clarify your goals, both short-term and long-term. And you want to identify the skills, knowledge, credentials, and experiences you need to achieve them. In this workshop, you will:

  • Identify your goals for graduate school, your current project, and your career
  • Discover the skills, knowledge, credentials, and experiences you already have
  • Determine what additional expertise will enable you to reach your goals
