Data visualizations have been made for hundreds of years, playing the role of helping us understand the world we live in.

Types of visualizations and the methods for making them continue to develop and have exploded in numbers with the rise of computational hardware and software. The visualizations listed on the following tabs are samples of those that are more frequently seen. If I have missed one of your favorites let me know!

Please also note that the visualizations have been grouped by basic concepts - however, it is natural for visualizations to blend types as observations frequently span time and space.
