This guide is intended for students currently living on campus at the U of A to help them navigate the transition to off-campus housing.

Questions to ask yourself when looking for an apartment

  • How much am I willing to spend on an apartment? 
  • Does rent include WIFI, electric, and water or do I need to purchase that separately? 
  • How long do I want a lease for? Some apartments do six or twelve month leases. 
  • Do I want to drive, walk, or take the bus to campus from my apartment complex? 
  • Do I want to live with roommates or by myself? 
  • Is the apartment complex furnished or do I have to buy my own furniture? 
  • How far away do I want to be from campus? 
  • Do I want to live in Fayetteville or surrounding areas? 
  • What floor do I prefer to live on? 
  • Do I want to live in an apartment complex that has a gym? 
  • Is the apartment complex student housing only or do other people live there? 
  • Does the apartment include a shuttle bus? 
  • Do I want to live somewhere with a pool? 
  • Is there a good community at this apartment complex? 
  • How big are the rooms? 
  • How do you make a maintenance request?
  • Is there a pet fee/ how much? 
  • Is there a trash fee? 
  • Is there a washer/ dryer? 
  • Do I need to pay for a parking space?
