Fine Press Facsimiles in Special Collections

Bedford Studenbuch Excerpt. The University Libraries holds several facsimiles of important manuscripts from Europe, the Americas, and other places around the world. More rare or valuable volumes are included in Special Collections. Other editions of these facsimiles are available in the Fine Arts Library.

All of the facsimiles in Special Collections are available to researchers. However, access to some editions may be limited because of security or preservation concerns. We encourage you to contact the department to arrange access to original and facsimile volumes.

The image displayed here is from the Bedford Hours, or the Bedford Studenbuch. The British Museum holds the original manuscript and provides a few images to go along with extensive description. Special Collections in the University of Arkansas Libraries has a volume of the most beautiful and accurate facsimile of the outstanding example of a book of hours. Special Collections is fortunate to have several outstanding facsimiles of major works from the throughout the history of the printed book. Some works are well know such as Shakespere's First Folio while others are more obscure.
