The Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS), a part of DOT’s Research and Innovative Technology Administration (RITA), prepares and presents statistics in many formats. The ones listed below are especially useful.

USGS Publications Warehouse
The Pubs Warehouse provides access to over 170,000 publications written by USGS scientists over the century-plus history of the bureau.
Arkansas Geological Survey
The AGS collects and disperses geologic data to its users. This data consists of geologic maps, historical data concerning resources, various datasets, both paper and some electronic-based, concerning water, fossil fuel, and mineral resources of Arkansas.
USGS Geoscience Data Catalog
A catalog of earth science data produced by the U.S. Geological Survey
Here you'll find documentation with links to the data files. To use the data, you'll need scientific software such as a geographic information system (GIS).

Transportation Organizations

There are many organizations, governmental and quasi-governmental, that are important places for publications in this field. Some, such as the Department of Transportation at both state and national levels, allow free access to their materials. Others, such as AASTHO charge for their publications.
