Dryad: The University of Arkansas Data Repository

This guide will provide information on our data repository system as well as guidelines for community use

As you start

You will first be asked to enter required metadata (information about your data).  These include: Journal name, title, author and affiliation (drawn from ROR), abstract, research domain (as defined by the OECD Fields of Science and Technology), and keywords. In addition it is recommended that you add the funding information, research facility if different from your current facility, methods and related works.

The duplicate submission detector will scan the first four words of the dataset title and, if those words match an existing dataset linked to the same submitting author, a pop-up will appear on the final page of the submission form to warn of a potential identical submission. If there is no risk of duplication, you can bypass the warning and proceed.

Starting your Dataset record

Select "Start New Dataset" to begin the submission process for your dataset.

You will see this screen:

The first part of the Dryad submission form where you are allowed to describe your data

Choose whether your data is related to a manuscript or published article by choosing one of the following radio buttons:

A.) A Manuscript in Progress: you can enter the Journal Name and Manuscript Number for your manuscript. If the journal you have submitted your manuscript with works with Dryad on data deposits, click the Import Manuscript Metadata button to download the metadata from the journal.

B.) A Published Article: You can enter the Journal Name and DOI for your article and then click the "Import Article Metadata" button to download metadata about the article from ORCID ID and CrossRef.

C.) Other or not applicable: You can simply start by entering information about your dataset. Basic Information heading, First Name, Last Name, Institutional Affiliation, and Author Email will already be filled in based on your ORCID ID.

Identifying Authors and Funders

Scroll down the form and provide your dataset title. Add additional authors as necessary. Select your research domain from the drop down menu.  Include your research facility (if separate from your current institution in the ROR directory).  Include your funding information if you have obtained funding from an outside source or select no funding received.  Finally add an abstract.

The Reearch Domain may be selected from the list compiled by OECD in 2002 (see below).

Please note that fields denoted with an * are required fields.
