"Open Education encompasses resources, tools and practices that are free of legal, financial and technical barriers and can be fully used, shared and adapted in the digital environment."
Open Pedagogy, otherwise known as Open Educational Practice is the use of open educational resources (OER) to support learning, or the open sharing of teaching practices with a goal of improving education and training at the institutional, professional, and individual level.
Open Educational Resources (OER) are teaching, learning, and research materials intentionally created and licensed to be free for the end user to own, share, and in most cases, modify.
The University of Arkansas' OER community includes over fifty faculty authors and adopters of OER textbooks and supplementary materials on our campus. They are supported in these efforts by departments and deans across campus and are provided tools, assistance and funding by the University Libraries and Global Campus.
The OER community is also composed of student leaders and thousands of students who benefit from the availability of no and low cost learning materials.
Our community is also represented by hundreds of faculty and students who are using our materials throughout the world!
Let us know that you are one of our community through the use of non-UA open textbooks!
