Social Media Policy

Users and/or content providers of the University of Arkansas Libraries’ social media outlets represent the University of Arkansas and the University Libraries. Because of that, we must adhere to all University of Arkansas’ Social Media guidelines and policies found at https://socialmedia.uark.edu/.

With social media, the University of Arkansas Libraries seeks to communicate with the University of Arkansas Community, our patrons, and potential patrons by:

  • Posting respectful, prompt, and valuable content and replies
  • Providing accurate and appropriate information
  • Using an authentic, welcoming voice 
  • Regularly analyzing and reporting on our efforts

The University Libraries reserves the right to remove all offensive and unrelated comments on our social media outlets. No user and/or content providers may post comments, tags or images that impinge on another's privacy or violate our policy. Violations include, but are not limited to:

  • Off-topic and/or disruptive posts
  • Private, personal information published without consent
  • Political advocacy
  • Posts that violate laws or University policies
  • Posts that are obscene, racist, derogatory, or libelous
  • Personal attacks, insults, or threatening language
  • Plagiarized or copyrighted material
  • Commercial promotions or spam

The following language from the University of Arkansas’ Social Media guidelines can be posted by users and/or content providers to any UARK Libraries’ social media outlets whenever appropriate, and in response to offensive or off-topic comments: “While we encourage civil debate about important ideas and respect commenters’ freedom of speech, we reserve the right to remove all offensive and unrelated comments on our social media outlets. You can contact the administrator at libshare@uark.edu.”

The University of Arkansas Libraries’ social media content aligns with our mission, vision, and values:
