The University of Arkansas supports open access (OA) research publications, but publishers may charge an additional fee, called an article processing charge (APC), for making research freely available to all online. For this reason, the University Libraries has negotiated agreements with several publishers to reduce or eliminate the cost of OA for authors. In addition, the libraries created the University of Arkansas Open Access Publishing Fund to assist with costs in journals that are not covered by these agreements.
