Resources on Citing Your Sources

Core Counselor Education Resources

Academic Search Complete
Covers: mostly 1990s- with some content back to the 19th century. A general research database that includes both popular magazines and scholarly journals. Offers academic and trade journals, popular magazines as well as some books, reports, and websites. The database features PDF content going back as far as 1887, with the majority of full text titles in native (searchable) PDF format. Searchable cited references are provided for some journals.
APA PsycINFO
Covers 1887-. Provides access to the international literature in psychology and related behavioral and social sciences, including psychiatry, sociology, anthropology, education, pharmacology, and linguistics. Indexes journals, as well as books, technical reports, dissertations, and other materials.
DSM Library
Offers the full text of the DSM 5th edition revised, a comprehensive reference source for clinical practitioners, as well as the Handbook of Differential Diagnosis, DSM-5 Clinical Cases, Handbook on the Cultural Formulation Interview, and the Guía de consulta de los criterios diagnósticos del DSM-5.
ERIC (EBSCO)
Covers: 1966-. Complete database on educational materials from the Education Resources Information Center (ERIC). ERIC indexes two different kinds of publication: journal articles and ERIC Documents or reports.
Mental Measurements Yearbook with Tests in Print
Covers: 1938-. Produced by the Buros Institute, the Mental Measurements Yearbook contains full-text reviews of contemporary testing instruments, plus all previous editions of the yearbook. Tests in Print serves as a comprehensive bibliography to all known commercially available tests that are currently in print in the English language. A score index permits users to identify what is measured by each test.
ProQuest Central
Offering scholarly journal and magazine articles, newspapers, and other types of publications, ProQuest Central brings together 30 of ProQuest's most highly used databases. Includes scholarly journal articles, newspapers and trade magazines, books, and books.
Psychiatry Online
Provides an online library of books and journals on psychiatric practice. Includes reference works such as the DSM (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual).

A growing collection of records for both recent and long out-of-print titles. Because a search may retrieve results from the full-text of many books, Google Books is most useful in helping you to identify titles of interest in your research. A number of popular magazines and government documents have also been added to the Google Books service.

Open Access Theses and Dissertations
Covers: 1970s- with some earlier documents. Assists in finding open access graduate theses and dissertations published around the world. Metadata (information about the theses) comes from over 1100 colleges, universities, and research institutions. OATD currently indexes 7.5 million theses and dissertations.
ProQuest Dissertations and Theses Global
Covers: 1861- with comprehensive full text from 1997-. Provides citations to and full text of millions of works. It includes citations dissertations and theses back to the 18th century and full text for dissertations and theses from the 1990s to the present. See the More info link for exact coverage of UofA theses and dissertations in this database.
Dissertations that are not available for free download online can be borrowed free of charge via Interlibrary Loan.
Foreign Doctoral Dissertations (Center for Research Libraries)
Covers: 1900- .Search the CRL (Center for Research Libraries) collection of foreign theses and dissertations. CRL is a cooperative collection of esoteric materials. Because the LIbraries are CRL members you may borrow materials on Interlibrary Loan (ILLiad).Search by author, translated title, institution, country, year, or subject keyword. The University of Arkansas is a member of CRL and researchers can borrow these materials via Interlibrary Loan.

American School Counselor Association
Provides professional development, resources, publications, and ethical guidelines for school counselors.
Certified Clinical Adventure Therapist (CCAT)
AEE’s CCAT and CTAS certifications enhances fidelity in the field by standardizing core competencies for practice and aligning practitioners’ training and experiences with these competencies in order to qualify as a certified clinical adventure therapist.

Professional Associations

American Counseling Association
Offers resources for students, practitioners, and educators, such as a list of practicing counselors, job postings, and the current ACA ethical guidelines.
American Mental Health Counselors Association
Includes information on conferences and professional development. The organization has a goal of working toward recognition for mental health counselors under Medicare and better treatment of mental health counselors currently recognized by other federal programs and private health care insurance plans.
American School Counselor Association
Provides professional development, resources, publications, and ethical guidelines for school counselors.
Association for Play Therapy
The Association for Play Therapy (APT) is a national professional society established in 1982 to foster contact among mental health professionals interested in exploring and, when developmentally appropriate, applying the therapeutic power of play to communicate with and treat clients, particularly children.
Therapeutic Adventure Professional Group
The mission of the Therapeutic Adventure Professional Group is to engage practitioners in the development and promotion of adventure as a therapeutic approach.

Testing Resources

ETS
The Test Collection at ETS is a database of more than 25,000 tests and other measurement devices, most of which were created by authors outside ETS. It makes information on standardized tests and research instruments available to researchers, graduate students and teachers. With information about tests from the early 1900s to the present, the Test Collection at ETS is the largest compilation of such materials in the world.

Mental Measurements Yearbook with Tests in Print
