Mendeley Cite is a free add-in for Microsoft Word. It allows a user to insert references from their Mendeley library into the word document, change the citation style, and/or generate a bibliography.

Mendeley Cite works for Microsoft Word versions 2016 and above, Microsoft Word app for iPad, and Microsoft Word Online. Mendeley Cite can be downloaded directly from the Mendeley website or via Microsoft Word as shown in the box below. 

To install Mendeley Cite from Microsoft Word, go click on the Insert tab and select Get Add-ins.

When installed the plugin will appear under the References tab on the far right as shown below. Be sure to click on the Mendeley Cite button in order for the add-in to open. A pane will then appear which will allow you to insert references.
