StaffGuide: Account and Access Troubleshooting

This guide is designed to help you work the issue with the patron and to refer it on if it cannot be resolved right away, Send us your suggestions to libweb@uark.edu for making it better.

Who Has Remote Access

In most cases, only current University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, students, faculty, and staff may access databases, electronic books, and electronic journals remotely.

Researchers, alumni, and community members who are not current U of A students, faculty, or staff are welcome to use most databases, electronic books, and electronic journals while in the library, but they may not access these resources remotely. Certain further restrictions apply to some databases.

Requesting Affiliate Accounts

If a continuing student, department, or individual contacts the library requesting library privileges, the best answer is usually to ask the patron to contact their college or program administrator and ask to be added to UAConnect Affiliate table so that a UARK email address and ID number will be generated for them.

The college or program makes the determination about affiliation, not the Libraries.

The administrator creating the record will need to ensure that the checkbox for library privileges has been checked.

Once a record has been created in UAConnect:

  • Database and E-resource Access
    • The UARK email account is ready to be activated for remote access to databases and e-resources. The patron will need to know their UARK ID number to activate their account at https://password.uark.edu/
  • Borrowing and ILL Privileges
    • The UAConnect record will need to come into Sierra (usually the next working day). If a record does not come in, a library staff member should open a ticket with libhelp@uark.edu.
