For journals: scholar@uark.edu
You may deposit your published work within ScholarWorks@UARK as long as you have either the publisher's permission or have published in an open journal. You will either need to perform a self-submission and accept the author agreement or download an author agreement from the rights owner to signify your rights to deposit your work.
Published audio and video files often have a more complex copyright structure with a number of persons or entities owning rights. If you wish to deposit published media, please fill out the form below.
Many publishing agreements stipulate that you may only archive a specific version of a publication in an institutional repository. These versions may include:
Pre-Prints: “Pre-print” refers to an original version of a manuscript that is submitted to a journal for publication, before it has gone through the peer review process.
Post-Prints: “Post-print” or “Accepted Manuscript” drafts have gone through peer review and have incorporated all revisions but may be missing the final copyediting.
Version of Record: The publisher’s version, also known as the Version of Record, is the final version of an article after it has gone through typesetting and final copyediting by the publisher. This version is usually not permitted to be archived in an institutional repository.
For information on which version you can archive, consult the Sherpa website which provides information on publisher copyright and self-archiving policies. Also consult your publisher to ensure that these guidelines are up-to-date.
The Open Access designation of your work as published in a journal may be described as falling into several service levels. These determine whether the version of record (publishers copy) can be added into our repository, ScholarWorks@UARK, or to your personal or group website. ScholarWorks@UARK will accept articles published in gold journals and will review hybrid and green journal articles for inclusion
Hybrid journals are free to read at the time of publication, with an open license. The articles in hybrid journals are usually published in exchange for an article processing charge, or APC.
Gold journals have all the same characteristics as Hybrid journals, but are published in all-Open Access journals, which are in turn called "Gold journals", or just "OA journals".
Green journals are toll-access journals (paywalls), but archived in an OA archive, or "repository". These repositories may be discipline-specific (like ArXiv) or institutional repositories operated by universities or other institutions. Articles from green journals may be published versions or preprints, and can have any license or no license.
Bronze articles are free to read on the publisher's website, without a license that grants any other rights. There may be a delay between publication and availability to read, and often articles can be removed unilaterally by the publisher.
Closed articles are not for open use and are behind paywalls.
