Finding Articles

Music articles can often be accessed full-text online, but:

Some journals and magazines are still only published in paper form. Paper periodicals are shelved behind Multimedia Services in the main floor of Mullins Library. Titles of periodicals can be found in the Library Catalog.
Some articles can only be found as citations (short summaries) online, and the full articles will need to be located elsewhere.
In many cases, Interlibrary Loan can help you find articles not available in Mullins Library and it's online resources. The ILL process for locating articles is often only a day or two.

Covers: primarily 1990- with selective coverage back to 1874-. Formerly known as the International Index to Music Periodicals (IIMP), this database offers full text and indexing and abstracting coverage of international music periodicals. Covers nearly all aspects of the world of music, from the most scholarly studies to pop culture.

Covers: mostly 1990s- with some content back to the 19th century. A general research database that includes both popular magazines and scholarly journals. Offers academic and trade journals, popular magazines as well as some books, reports, and websites. The database features PDF content going back as far as 1887, with the majority of full text titles in native (searchable) PDF format. Searchable cited references are provided for some journals.

Covers: 1800s-. A collection of core journals and books in the humanities, social sciences, sciences, and mathematics. Most journals are digitized back to the first date of issue. Note that most titles in these archival collections are only digitized after a three-to-five-year time lag so that recent issues are not always available through JSTOR.
JSTOR now includes ebooks, images, and primary sources as well as journals.
