StaffGuide: Aeon Information for Staff

This guide provides workflows for staff as they use Aeon in Special Collections.

Placing Materials on Hold for Patrons

When a top container is taken from its location for patron use, place the container on hold when not in use.

Materials should be placed on hold when they are paged before a researcher arrives, after delivery from LINX, and when a patron indicates a return visit is planned.

Materials should only be checked out to in-person researchers when they are signed in to the reading room.

Reshelve Material

If materials are not placed on hold, route the request to reshelve item. The system will then update the request to a status of awaiting item reshelving, which indicates that the material was returned by the researcher and is on a truck or on the temp range for reshelving.

Item Reshelved

When a top container is returned to its permanent location, update the Aeon request one final time by routing the request to item reshelved. The system will update the request to a status of request finished.
