Integrating Guides into Blackboard Courses "Automagically"

Instructors can now add links to LibGuides in their course content area "Automagically."  They just need a little help from LibGuides authors to insert the corect linking metadata in their guides.

Library Side - Add Blackboard Course Metadata to Guide or Course

  1. Obtain the Blackboard course ID from the instructor. You will need to update this every semester. 
    The course ID format is in the syntax below [unless the course is sandbox or dev course]

[4 digit semester code]-THEUA-[subject]-[course number]-SECXXX-XXXX
Example: 1233-THEUA-COMM-1313-SEC002-7831

Recent and upcoming semester codes:

  • 1229 = Fall 2022
  • 1233 = Spring 2023
  • 1236 = Summer 2023
  • 1239 = Fall 2023
  • 1243 = Spring 2024
  • 1246 = Summer 2024
  • 1249 = Fall 2024

  1. In LibGuides editor, go to the guide and click the cog for settings, then Guide Metadata.

  1. Choose the Custom Metadata tab.

  1. Add a record with the name "lti" and the value = the Blackboard course id , then close.

Guide custom metadata: add type "LTI" and the course ID from Blackboard
 

That's it! The instructor should now be set to enable to integration.
