InfoLinks BCODE3 Usage

INFOLINKS BCODE3 USAGE

Code

Usage in InfoLinks

-

Default for records keyed or exported by Acquisitions. When the item is cataloged, the BCODE3 is changed to “x.”

a

Aggregator full-text journal (vendor varies). This is a brief bib record.

b

ebook records loaded using the generic “ebook” table. May come from a variety of sources, although most are vendor records.

c

Main shelflist converted. Means we have pulled the shelflist card, verified bibliographic and holdings information, and thrown the card away. Only done after all copies/volumes have been barcoded.

d

Delete. Not currently used.

e

Gift sound recording. These receive expedited cataloging. No authority work has been done.

g

GPO Marcive. The record came from a current or retrospective Marcive load.

i

Incomplete authority work. The title was cataloged in-house, but authority work was either not done or is incomplete (normally because non-Roman languages are involved).

k

Law microform.

l

Law converted. Law library staff have converted their shelflist.

m

Middle Eastern Studies materials sent to OCLC Techpro for cataloging (original and copy). Indicates no authority work has been done.

n

Record suppressed from the OPAC but visible in staff mode. We use when materials are only for staff use or when the last copy of something has been withdrawn. We archive order records after two years, at which point we can delete the bib records. (You also have the option of suppressing just an item record in cases when some copies/volumes are available for public use.)

p

Popular video. Popular entertainment titles that receive expedited cataloging. No authority work has been done.

q

Middle Eastern Studies materials, in-house copy cataloging.

r

New record. Used when our system first came up to denote items cataloged on InfoLinks but for which we had produced shelflist cards.

s

SULOP tape load. We were able to create InfoLinks serials holdings statements from our OCLC local data records, and these serials records were added in a separate tape load.

t

TechPro (non Middle-East). This code is for materials in non-roman languages other than Arabic, and they are also sent to OCLC Techpro. Code “t” (like code “m”) indicates that no authority work has been done.

u

Law brief bib record. Used for less than full cataloging.

v

Vendor records. We have purchased electronic books and the vendor’s cataloging to match.

w

Tape loaded record. Used for both our major and “gap” tape loads.

x

No shelflist card created. Means the item was cataloged on InfoLinks after we stopped producing shelflist cards. This is the code we use for current cataloging.

z

Both Mullins and Law shelflist cards are converted.
