American Indian Oral History Collection Part I

About
The American Indian Research Project (AIRP) at the University of South Dakota Vermillion, supported by funds from the Doris Duke Foundation, conducted these interviews from 1967-1973. The project concentrates on interviews with Native Americans from the Dakotas and non-Indians such as business people, government officials, and religious workers, who are closely associated with tribal members. Other geographical areas covered include Canada, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, Washington, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.

Arranged first by tribe and then alphabetically by interviewee. Non-Native American interviewees are grouped together and arranged alphabetically. Each transcript begins with a biographical summary of the memoirist and a list of subject discussed in the interview.
