The Foreign Broadcast Information Service (now largely subsumed into the National Technical Information Service)collected, translated, and analyzed foreign news sources. The FBIS Daily Reports series provided translations of news stories from these world regions:

• AAP - Asia and the Pacific (1974-87)
• AFR - Africa (Sub-Sahara) (1987-96)
• EAS - East Asia (1987-96)
• EEU - Eastern Europe (1974-96)
• LAT - Latin America (1974-96)
• MEA - Middle East and Africa (1974-87)
• NES - Near East and South Asia (1987-96)
• PRC - China (1974-96)
• SOA - South Asia (1980-87)
• SOV - Soviet Union (1974-91)
• USR - Central Eurasia (1984-1996)
• WEU - Western Europe (1974-96)

From 1996-2004, the Libraries received some FBIS materials on CD-ROM. In 2004, the FBIS materials ceased to be distributed to depository libraries and are now only available by commercial subscription.

Most are in Library Annex Government Documents cabinets with call numbers beginning PrEx 7.10:FBIS...
