EndNote Exporting and Importing Instructions

Help with exporting citations from library databases into your EndNote account.

American Mathematical Society

  1. Search for the record(s) you wish to export.
    1. Select the record(s) by clicking the checkbox(es) to the left of the record(s).
    2. At the top of the results:
      1. From the Batch Download drop-down menu, select Citations (EndNote) .
      2. Then, click the Retrieve Marked link.
        1. On the next page, copy the text from the screen and paste the text into Notepad.
        2. Save the file as a .TXT file.
  2. Log in to EndNote.
    1. Under the Collect tab, select Import References.
    2. Click Browse to locate the saved file.
    3. From the Import Option drop-down menu, select EndNote Import .
    4. From the To drop-down menu, select the group where you would like the record to be placed.
    5. Finally, click Import .

Multiple Citations from a List

  1. Search for the record(s) you wish to export.
  2. Select the record(s) to export by clicking the folder + Folder Plus icon.
  3. When you are ready to export the records, Click the folder Folder icon at the top of the page.
  4. Select the record(s) to export by clicking the checkbox(es) to the left of the each record.
  5. On the next screen, click Export on the right.
  6. On the last screen, select Direct Export to EndNote Web on the right.
  7. Finally, click Save on the left.
  8. You will be prompted to log in to your EndNote account.
  9. Your references will be imported.

 

Single Reference

  1. Search for the record(s) you wish to export.
  2. To view a record, click its title.
  3. Click Export on the right.
  4. Select Direct Export to EndNote Web on the right; then, click Save.
  5. You will be prompted to log in to your EndNote account.
  6. Your reference will be imported.
