EndNote Exporting and Importing Instructions

Help with exporting citations from library databases into your EndNote account.

OneSearch

To export a single record

  1. Search for the record(s) you wish to export.
    1. In the brief results display
      1. Click the ellipses (three dots) to show export options.

      2. Choose the EndNote option.

      3. Log into EndNote Basic, if you are not already logged in.
      4. Your record is imported.
    2. In the full record display
      1. Under the Send to section, choose EndNote.

      2. Log into EndNote Basic, if you are not already logged in.
      3. Your record is imported.

 

To export multiple records

  1. Search for the record(s) you wish to export.
  2. Check boxes next the records you wish to export.
  3. At the top of the page, choose the ellipses (three dots) and then choose EndNote

  4. Log into EndNote Basic, if you are not already logged in.
  5. Your records are imported.


New!  Export up to 5000 records in RIS format

You can now export up to 5,000 records in an *.ris file.  To do so,

  1. Log into your library account if you are not already logged in.
  2. Conduct a search; when viewing search results, select at least one record for export.
  3. Click the option to  EXPORT ALL RECORDS.

  4. Choose the options for file format and encoding, for EndNote the options should be RIS file format and UTF-8 encoding.

  5. Enter your email address and any notes and click Send
  6. You should receive an email from libalma@uark.edu with your file of records attached.
    Be patient; large files can take several minutes to export.
  7. Save the .ris file that was sent to you as an attachment. 
  8. Log into EndNote Basic, if you are not already logged in.
  9. Under the Collect tab, select Import References.
  10. Click Browse to locate the saved file.
  11. From the Import Option drop-down menu, select RefMan RIS .
  12. From the drop-down menu, select the group where you would like the record to be placed.
  13. Finally, click Import.
