EndNote Exporting and Importing Instructions

Help with exporting citations from library databases into your EndNote account.

  1. Search for the desired item.
  2. Mark the records you want to export by clicking Save Citation link or use the Save all Citations button to save the entire results set.
  3. On the top menu bar, click the Saved Citations link.
  4. In the new screen, the items you want to export are displayed. Choose the option to Export to EndNote.
  5. Save the file; it will have an *.RIS extension.
  6. Login to EndNote Web.
  7. Under Collect, select Import References.
  8. Click Browse to locate and attach the saved text file.
  9. Under Filter, select RefMan RIS.
  10. Select the group where you would like the citation to be placed, then hit Import.
