EndNote Exporting and Importing Instructions

Help with exporting citations from library databases into your EndNote account.

When viewing a single article or chapter

  1. Look for the Tools link on the right menu.
  2. Choose "Export Citation."
  3. A new window pops up.
  4. Choose EndNote as the format and Direct import as the type. 
  5. Click the Download button, you file will be saved with an *.enw extension. 
  6. Login to EndNote Web
  7. Under Collect, select Import References.
  8. Click Browse to locate the saved file.
  9. Under Filter, EndNote Import, select the group where you would like the citation to be placed, then hit Import.
